Congratulations to our Spring 2019 Graduates

On Thursday, May 9, 2018 at 9:30 AM in the Reynolds Coliseum, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering welcomed family and friends of our Spring 2019 graduates. We celebrated the hard work and dedication of our 69 graduating doctoral, 20 master, and 232 bachelor degree students.

Our commencement speaker was Ms. Lisa Teague who obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from NC State in 1981 and 1982, respectively. She is the Head of Research & Technology at Rolls-Royce, where she is responsible for the planning and execution of Research & Technology activities in Indianapolis, coordinating with global counterparts in the UK and Germany. Through a network of technology specialists, her group matures technologies for future gas turbine engine products and services. Lisa is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and is currently active in AIAA. She also serves on the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) Workforce Policy Council that focuses on issues related to attracting and retaining a qualified workforce for the aerospace and defense industry.

Our undergraduate speaker was Ms. Jess Errico, a first generation student from Shelby, North Carolina who double majored in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. During her time at NC State, Jess served on the Student Conduct Board, was elected Student Body Chief Justice, and then Student Body President in her final year. Jess also served as the student representative on the Board of Trustees and Chairwoman of the NC Council of Student Body Presidents.
