Ekkad named AIAA Associate Fellow

Department Head and RJ Reynolds Professor, Dr. Srinath Ekkad, has been named to the Class of 2019 Associate Fellows for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). AIAA will formally honor and induct the class at its AIAA Associate Fellows Recognition Ceremony on Monday, January 7, 2019, in San Deigo, California.

The grade of Associate Fellow recognizes individuals “who have accomplished or been in charge of important engineering or scientific work, or who have done original work of outstanding merit, or who have otherwise made outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics.” To be selected as an Associate Fellow an individual must be an AIAA Senior Member in good standing, with at least twelve years professional experience, and be recommended by a minimum of three current Associate Fellows. Each year, only one for every 150 voting members are selected and approved.

Dr. Ekkad’s research focuses primarily on thermal management, energy concepts, propulsion, advanced diagnostics funded by NSF, DOE, Rolls-Royce, Siemens, GE, Solar Turbines, Chromalloy, Honeywell, Elliot Turbo, Toyota, and many others.
