Chemtex Mechanical Engineer Position

Chemtex is a Technology and Engineering Company that has  provided technology, engineering, process equipment and technical  services for chemical plants globally for over 70 years. Chemtex has  offices in Wilmington, NC, Shanghai and Beijing, China and  Bangalore, India. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer  with strong diversity skills and ability to work in a multicultural  environment to join our Wilmington office on a full-time basis.  

 

Responsibilities  

Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing  mechanical systems, rotating and static equipment and  polymerization reactors.  

Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical  principles and statistics to solve problems.  

Experience using CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks,  AutoCAD, or similar  

Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning  ability  

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.  

Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.  

Core base knowledge of ASME pressure vessel code and required  calculations.  

Design systems and components that meet needs and  requirements.  

Evaluate final designs overall quality, reliability, and safety.  Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate  problems and fatigue.  

Estimate budget and scope of project.  

Solicit observations from clients operating plants.  

Prepare product reports and documentation.  

Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods. 

 

Requirements  

Willing to pursue obtaining a PE license.  

Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics,  kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.  

Creativity and analytical skills  

Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and  understandable manner.  

Technical writing skills  

BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering minimum  

Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite  element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)  Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM)  Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing  tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor or other)  

Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, or  similar)  

Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (PV Elite,  Excel, etc)  

Excellent prioritization and project development skills
