Restored Customs Engineering Intern

Reports to: 

Head of Customs Engineering  

Job Purpose: 

restor3d uses 3D printing to develop implants that solve challenging orthopaedic problems. The customs  engineering intern will be responsible for segmentation, a process where CT scan images are converted into 3D models, preparation of model files, and providing design support as needed. After initial training,  the majority of the work can be completed remotely.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Segmenting CT images using Materialise Mimics software from DICOM files 
  • Creating 3D reconstructions of patient anatomy using Materialise 3-matic software Understanding foot & ankle anatomy and common pathologies 
  • Modeling orthopaedic surgical hardware in Solidworks 
  • Modeling case-specific instrumentation and accessories 

Qualifications: 

Qualifications include: 

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (mechanical, biomedical, etc.), either completed  or in progress 
  • Experience in 3D modeling (Solidworks, ProE, 3-matic, Rhino, etc.) 

Preferred qualifications include: 

  • Experience with image segmentation  
  • Understanding of human anatomy (through coursework or training) 
  • Experience with 3D printing
