The Lab at North Carolina Museum of Life and Science

Our group partners with the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science (part of the NSF-supported Nanoscale Informal Science Education (NISE) Network) on developing hands-on demonstrations for flexible/stretchable devices. The Lab, a hands-on exhibit facilitated by museum staff and volunteers, provides an excellent venue for this activity.

Kids from Sweden (don’t speak English but no problem to have fun)!

NanoDays

NC State NanoDays is a state-wide event designed to open the world of nanoscale science and nanotechnology to citizens, teachers, and students. It is appropriate for all age groups, especially elementary, middle, and high school students. It attracts ~2000 people every year.

NCSU Young Scholar/RET Programs

Our group hosted RETs and Young Scholars from North Carolina high schools in a job shadowing experience. Qingquan is showing MEMS devices.

Alternative Energy Summer Camp

Our group participates in the NC State Alternative Energy Summer Camp (one week long). Dr. Zhu talked about alternative energy sources and various approaches of energy harvesting. Raul Campos (UG) demonstrated his piezoelectric energy scavenger based on PZT cantilevers.
