I-9 & e-Verify


Every new employee must present original documents verifying identity and eligibility to work in the U.S. This is a Federal requirement. We utilize an online, electronic I-9 system for the completion of I-9 forms. 

Section 1 of the I-9 form MUST be completed on or before your first day of work. The I-9 Representative does not need to review your documentation at this time. This section can be completed remotely by new hires. Employees being rehired and needing an updated I-9 will need to complete this with the I-9 Representative.

Section 2 of the I-9 form MUST be completed within three (3) business days of your start date. This section is completed by the I-9 Representative. The Employee must present the appropriate documentation to the I-9 Representative so they can complete this section. We cannot accept copies of documents!!

If the I-9 is not completed within three (3) of your start date, we will have to terminate your employment until the process can be completed. You will be notified either by an MAE I-9 Representative or you will receive an email from the University’s I-9 Guardian System if you need to complete an I-9 form when you are hired/rehired or if your work authorization is ending.
