COVID-19 Panel Discussion: Response and Moving Forward

Dean Louis Martin-Vega invites you to join the College of Engineering for a virtual panel discussion on the College’s innovative response to Coronavirus (COVID-19). Four panelists will provide their perspective on the impact, how each has responded and adapted to meet immediate needs with cutting-edge research, and a look ahead at the future.

Featured panelist include, Assistant Professor for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Dr. Landon Grace. Dr. Grace is leading an effort with graduate students in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering to manufacture protective face shields for healthcare workers. The shields that his lab is manufacturing are going directly to frontline healthcare workers at UNC Health.

Leah Pursell will also be a featured panelist. Pursell is a NC State Junior studying mechanical engineering. On campus, she serves as the President of the Engineers’ Council and is a teaching assistant for the College’s MATLAB course. Last summer, she worked as an aeronautical engineering intern at Lockheed Martin in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and will be returning to that role again this summer.
