Additive Vacuum Electronics Working Group

Through our funded NAVSEA program (N0025316P0261), “Additive Manufacturing for Microwave Vacuum Electronic Devices: Electron Beam Melting” we have organized quarterly meetings of an industrial working group to provide an open forum for critical feedback and guidance on the direction of future research efforts. The working group has met 5 times beginning first at the International Vacuum Electronics Conference (April 25th, 2018 Monterey, CA) with 7 companies represented. By the June 2018 meeting at NCSU, the mission and objectives of the group were voted upon and established. By the 3rd meeting (October 5th,2018 held at SLAC National Lab, the national accelerator laboratory in Menlo Park, CA) the core working group had expanded to 28 separate entities including large and small industry, national labs, and program managers. As word has spread, driven by this working group, more and more companies have become involved. The 4th meeting was held February 9th, 2019 held at Radiabeam Technologies in Santa Monica, CA. The most recent was held at NC State, at the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics on June 13th, and we had over 44 companies represented with 39 on site visitors.
