Formula SAE Takes on Competition in Nevada

Last week, the NC State Pack Motorsports Formula SAE team attended the Formula SAE Nevada competition at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada.

The team placed 2nd in both the Acceleration and Skidpad events on Friday morning. On Friday afternoon, they finished in 4th place in the Autocross event. Saturday, they were able to complete the entire 22 kilometer Endurance test. Only a few teams were able to accomplish this, given the extreme heat and other conditions. Their Endurance time was 2nd fastest overall, earning them an overall finish of 2nd place for the competition.

In addition to their new accolades, the team also brought home $1,500 for the Cummins Innovation Award after earning 1st place for their carbon fiber control arm covers. Additionally, $2000 for the Siemens Digital Twin Electrical Systems Excellence, receiving 2nd place for their Vesys wiring harness model. Through various event sponsors, the team received a total of $3,500 in specialty awards.

Following their return to Raleigh, members of the team will begin preparations for their next competition,
Formula SAE Michigan, at Michigan International Speedway.
