Congratulations to our Fall 2018 Graduates

On Thursday December 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM in The McKimmon Center, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering welcomed family and friends of our Fall 2018 graduates. We celebrated the hard work and dedication of our 12 graduating doctoral, 51 master, and 73 bachelor degree students.

Fall UndergradsOur commencement speaker was Mr. Jeff Cope who graduated from NCSU in 2001 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He founded InspectionXpert Corporation in 2004 to help precision manufacturers transform their inefficient paper processes. Mr. Cope bootstrapped his business from a corner desk in his bedroom to a business with over 20 employees, 7,000 users across 6 continents in 14 different languages, and $3 million in annual revenue. Mr. Cope’s software has been use by SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, Hyperloop, Roush-Yates Racing, and many others. Mr. Cope successfully sold his company this year and now speaks regularly at industry conferences around the world.

Our undergraduate speaker was Mr. Harry Schrickx who is from Durham, North Carolina and moved to Raleigh to attend NC State in 2014. He graduated with a B.S. in mechanical engineering and plans to attend graduate school starting next fall. Throughout his undergraduate career, Harry has completed a Co-op with RMF Engineering and conducted undergraduate research on the mechanics of polymers in Dr. O’Connor’s lab. In his free time he enjoys hiking, intramural sports, and playing on NC State’s club water polo team.
