On Thursday December 15, 2016 at 5:30 PM in the McKimmon Center, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering welcomed family and friends of our Fall 2016 graduates. We celebrated the hard work and dedication of our 19 graduating doctoral, 66 master, and 60 bachelor degree students.
Our commencement speaker was Missy Moore. She is an alumni of the NC State Mechanical Engineering program. While a student, she participated in the Engineering Co-op program and graduated in December of 1986 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. In 1988 she returned to her hometown of Winston-Salem, NC and joined R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company’s Engineering Department. Missy is currently the Sr. Director of Making and Packing Operations and has responsibility for all cigarette production at R.J Reynolds Tobacco Company. Her speech highlighted the importance on how engineers need to be deliberate in focusing on people, relationships and teamwork in order to reach their full potential.
