MAE raises more than $70k on DoG two years in a row

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering was able to raise more than $70,000 for the second year in a row Wednesday during NC State’s annual Day of Giving.

Over the course of 24 hours, students, parents, alumni, friends and family showed their love for MAE by #GivingPack, and it’s thanks to their support that the department was able to raise a total of $70,101 across 131 gifts.

These funds will support our student teams like Formula and Baja SAE, High Powered Rocketry, Aerial Robotics, SolarPack, and more.

Among our many incredible donors was Dr. Basil Hassan, who made a significant contribution to the MAE Aerospace Projects fund to support student design competitions like the AIAA Design, Build, Fly Team; the High Powered Rocketry Team; and participation in AIAA Student Conferences. Dr. Hassan is an ’88 MAE alumni and a member of the MAE Alumni Hall of Fame Class of 2014. He also serves on the MAE Undergraduate Advisory Board.

This year marks the 5th annual Day of Giving for NC State and the University raised a total of $34,019,746 across 16,774 gifts, toppling last year’s record of $23,060,336 raised across 14,533 gifts. The College of Engineering ranked second University-Wide on both the Donation Leaderboard and the Participation Leaderboard with $6,502,299.92 across 1,661 gifts, more than four times the total amount of funds raised at the College level in 2022.
