MAE Student Selected as Elite Astronaut Scholar

Aerospace Engineering student, Madison Maloney, has been selected to join the 2017/2018 Astronaut Scholars. She will attend the Innovators Gala in Washington, D.C. from September 14-16, where she will be awarded up to $10,000 and recognized with other members of the Astronaut Scholar Honor Society. Each year, the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation honors and supports students who lead and excel in STEM fields. Scholarships are awarded to the best and brightest minds. In addition, these students become part of a prestigious, mentoring network of astronauts, astronaut scholars and innovative technology leaders throughout the nation.

To be considered for the award, scholarship candidates are nominated by faculty in their department and then selected by a university committee that submits the nominee to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Scholarship Committee. Often two candidates per school are submitted, but there is no guarantee that either will be selected. We are proud to be represented by our undergraduate, Madison Maloney, in the 2017/2018 Astronaut Scholars program.
