MAE 496/586 Procedure

MAE 496 & 586 are excellent ways to get undergraduate students involved in research. I would like to remind everyone of the standards expected for these courses:

1. At the beginning of the semester students must prepare a project proposal and a schedule, both of which must be approved by the faculty advisor.
   
   
2. Students must send the faculty advisor weekly e-mail updates, the faculty advisor needs to keep these e-mails for ABET evaluators.
   
   
3. Faculty advisors must meet with the students once a week, preferably after they have received their weekly e-mail updates so they can be discussed.
   
   
4. Students must prepare a final report, if the student chooses to present the work at a conference, this can replace the report.
   
   
5. The faculty advisor must grade the report/presentation.
   
   
6. The faculty advisor is responsible for collecting ABET data for MAE 496.
