Wu and Zheng's Paper Wins Best Student Paper Award at ASME Conference

Ms. Qian Zheng, won the best student paper award from the Dynamic Systems and Control Division (DSCD) at the 2005 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE). She received her B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2001 and came to NC State in 2003. In October, Ms. Zheng received her M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and is now continuing her studies at NC State toward her doctoral degree under the direction of Professor Fen Wu.

Ms. Zheng's paper is entitled “Output Feedback Control of Saturated Linear Systems Using Parameter-Dependent Lyapunov Functions.” This research was sponsored by the National Science Foundation through a grant to Professor Wu. The prize for best student paper is based on the quality of both the written paper and the oral presentation. As winner of the competition, Ms. Zheng received the best student paper certificate, a cash prize of $300, a free student registration for the 2005 IMECE, a ticket to attend the DSCD Awards Banquet, and reimbursement for expenses associated with the IMECE meeting. The award was announced during the DSCD Award Banquet on November 8. Both Ms Zheng and Dr. Wu are to be congratulated for their achievement.
