May 5 , 2006
By Ms. C. Heeter and Dr. N. Ma, NCSU

Graduate students across campus presented their research at the 1st Annual NC State University Graduate Student Research Symposium. This symposium was held in the Talley Student Center Ballroom on March 30. Over seventy posters were presented by graduate students from over forty graduate programs. Two students, Xianghong Wang and Jeremy Morton, were selected to represent the MAE department at this symposium.

Xianghong Wang presented her research project entitled “Bulk Growth of Semiconductor Crystals in Static and Rotating Magnetic Fields.” She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. under direction of Professor Nancy Ma.

Jeremy Morton presented his research project entitled “Theory and Application of New Methods in On-line Assessment for Engineering.” He is pursuing his Ph.D. under direction of Professor Larry Silverberg.

The symposium attracted a wide range of students, faculty and other interested individuals. The Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department wishes to thank Ms. Wang and Mr. Morton for a job well done.
