The 2007 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) was held in Seattle Washington from November 11 th -15 th . Ten students from the ASME Student Section attended this congress and got to see the national student design competition finals and hear from the keynote speaker, Bernard Amadei, the founder of Engineers Without Borders. The students arrived in Seattle late Friday night, Nov. 10 th and toured the city on Saturday before attending the congress on Sunday, Nov. 11 th . The faculty advisor, Dr. Jeffrey Eischen, took the students out to dinner on Saturday night and the MAE department head, Dr. Rich Gould held a lunch with the students on Sunday. The students learned a great deal on the trip and were motivated to apply their engineering skills to design for the underprivileged masses that live in poverty in third world countries by helping with projects like those undertaken by Engineers Without Borders.
