“Wolfrover” Wins 1st Place at ASME Eastern Regional Conference

The ASME student design team, “Wolfrover,” was awarded 1st place at the ASME Eastern Regional Conference in March 2004 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond , VA.

The contest was designed to address an issue of major concern to most nations, the plethora of anti-personnel mines that remain in place around the globe, remnants of past wars and conflicts. Given that these devices are armed and can cause great physical harm and possibly death, humanitarian efforts are underway to locate and disarm these mines. The purpose of this year's contest was to design and build a radio controlled device that would facilitate the execution of this noble task. The requirements of the contest were to retrieve six simulated mines within three minutes and place them within a controlled receiving area. Team Wolfrover is extremely proud of the project's success and would like to extend a special thanks to all of the wonderful people that supported and aided our efforts; we couldn't have done it without them.
