Peters Receives Young Investigator Award from ANCRiSST

Dr. Kara J. Peters, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at North Carolina State University, has received a 2007 Young Investigator's Award from the Asia-Pacific Network of Centers for Research in Smart Structures Technology in recognition of her contributions to the advancement of smart structures technology. The award was conferred at the World Forum on Smart Materials and Smart Structures in Nanjing, China, on May 26, 2007.
Peter's research is in the development, modeling and integration of optical fiber-based sensors for the structural health monitoring of composite structures. She earned her PhD in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan in 1996 and joined the NC State faculty in 2000.
The ANCRiSST, established in 2002, is a center-based consortium on smart structures technology in the Asian-Pacific region.
