Roy (PhDAE '98) Receives Presidential Award

On 26 July 2006, Dr. Christopher Roy received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers in a ceremony at the White House for his work on verification and validation in computational science and engineering. The presidential award is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers in the beginning of their independent careers.

Roy is one of seven researchers recognized by the Department of Energy, and one of 56 researchers who received this year's presidential award. He was nominated for the award by the National Nuclear Security Administration's Sandia National Laboratories in recognition of his work in support of the administration's national security mission.
Dr. Roy is assistant professor of Aerospace Engineering at Auburn University and a Senior Member of AIAA. He is an active volunteer, teaching a Verification and Validation in Computational Simulation short course, and he is the Technical Chair of the 2007 Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference in Miami, and Chair of the Fluid Dynamics Technical Committee.
Dr. Roy received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1998 under the direction of Professor Jack Edwards.
