Energy Assessments Energy Workshops Energy Diploma Series Current Energy Research Master's  Degree with Energy Focus
Welcome to the MAE Energy Efficiency and Environmental Research program.  Our mission is to help industrial, institutional, and large commercial firms reduce energy use and cost.  This is accomplished with on-site surveys, workshops for energy managers and maintenance personnel, and research into energy conservation practices and equipment.

Programs include:

EMP

The Energy Management Program is funded by the North Carolina State Energy Office through the NCSU College of Engineering.  EMP provides Preliminary Energy Diagnostic Surveys (PEDS) at no cost and low cost Targeted Energy Surveys that address specific systems (i.e., boilers, HVAC, lighting, compressed air) at most manufacturing plants and larger commercial firms.

IAC

The Industrial Assesment Center program (IAC) is a US Department of Energy funded program that provides free one day assessments of small and medium sized manufacturing plants using students and professors (IAC Qualifications).  The IAC covers all of North Carolina, and parts of South Carolina, and Southside Virginia (IAC Coverage Area).

EM and FEM

Diploma Series

The Energy Management (EM) and Facilities Engineering Management (FEM) diploma series each consist of three one week sessions of workshops held throughout the year.  Workshop topics cover a range of industrial equipment and provide insight on plant operations.  At the end, the student presents...

Utility Savings Initiative

The Utility Savings Initiative provides energy conservation surveys for State Government buildings, including State Hospitals and Universities. If applicable, the facility is referred to the EMP for a Targeted Energy Survey.
