Summer Study Abroad in Mexico - posted 3-19-08

1st summer session at Technologico de Monterrey and take Statistics
(equivalent to ST 370 at NCSU)

I wanted to make you aware of a new student
exchange program, of which we are currently
working out the final details, with Technologico
de Monterrey in Morelia City, the capital of the
state of Michoacan in Mexico. While the program
is not totally finalized, an outstanding
opportunity exists for students to participate this summer.

This year we have visiting as a PhD student
Natalia Viktorovna, who is the director of the
ABET approved undergraduate program in
Industrial Engineering at Technologico de
Monterrey. Working with several NCSU faculty and
staff, she has worked diligently to develop this
relationship between the 2 universities. The
Technologico de Monterrey already has a similar
relationship with Texas Tech University.

Anyway, this summer you can attend 1st summer
session (late May until the first of
July-essentially the same as NCSU) at
Technologico de Monterrey and take Statistics
(equivalent to ST 370 at NCSUISE students could
count it as ST 371) taught by Texas Tech
professor John Kobza, as well as Spanish
language class (beginner, intermediate or
advanced level, depending upon your current
skill level). You would join Texas Tech and
Technologico de Monterrey students in a number
of complementary activities already scheduled by
the university. The cost of the program at the
university, including 6 hours of academic credit, is $1940 US dollars.

Ms. Viktorovna will be available at the IIE/SME
meeting next Wednesday, March 26, in Daniels
123, starting at 5:00pm to discuss this program.
If you are unable to attend this session, but
would like to talk with her, she has indicated
she’ll meet at other convenient timesjust email
her at <natalia.v@itesm.mx>.  Also, I have some
brochures available in my office.
