Summer Student Engineer - posted 4-22-08

Tyco Electronics located in Greensboro , NC   has an immediate opening for a summer engineering student.  The major focus of this assignment will be working on machine guarding and safety of high speed assembly machinery.    This will include evaluating and modifying existing guarding, designing of new guarding/safety systems and manufacturing ergonomics.

This individual will be working within a 700 employee manufacturing facility.  Work activities will be directed by the Sr. Manufacturing Engineer and Plant Environmental Health and Safety on a project basis.

Ideal candidate will be a Junior, rising into their Senior year or Senior, graduating in December, 2008 in Mechanical Engineering.  However, other engineering disciplines will be considered.  Must be proficient in AutoCad and/or Pro-E and  have strong mechanical/design skills.  Knowledge of electrical/electronic principles helpful.
